A lovely and rare set of six (6) Art Deco silver-plated rooster-embossed shot glasses / cordial cups by E.G. Webster, circa 1930s. Truly a magical set. The rooster has a lovely "raised" 3-D like texture (with a subtle copper tone to the roosters/detailing). They hold approximately 3 ounces. Heavier in weight, these shot cups have a solid feel to them.
Set includes: 6 shot cups/jiggers
Maker: E.G. Webster & Son, a New York based manufacturer with roots back to the 1850s, bought out by International Silver Co. in 1928.
Hallmarks: None. These shot cups don't bare any hallmarks but are unmistakably EG Webster. We've sold this vintage brand in the past and some of their pieces didn't get hallmarked, including this set.
Measurements: 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter and hold approx. 3 ounces
Condition: Good vintage condition overall for shot cups that are 90 years old with general signs of age. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces/sets, so here's a cup by cup summary:
1) There's what we refer to as general surface wear (that can include micro fine scrapes, scratches, etc) from past handling or how there were stored
2) Some of the cups have slightly more tarnish to the interiors giving them a subtle gold wash/look (we have not polished these cups)
3) A few of the cups have tiny dark ages spots tot the interiors (very small)
4) One cup has a very tiny shallow ding on the very bottom edge (extremely small and subtle)
5) One cup has a small age spot/wear to the silverplating (see photo #8 where our finger is pointing)
In short, this set is in good vintage condition overall with noticeable signs of age. They display beautifully and have a magical feel to them.
