The Art of Mixing Drinks guide, in its original box, 1938 printing (the first printing was in 1935). This small spiral-bound manual was published by Reilly & Lee Company (Chicago, IL) and boasts "what to serve, when to serve, and how to serve" mixology how-to. Truly a cool vintage cocktail guide that captures the essence of vintage cocktails and how to serve them. The book is comprised of a hard plastic with a bold red spiral and gold font. The box it comes in is a deep black box with "The Art of Mixing Drinks" in gold font. This neat mixology book includes vintage drinks such as Brandy Punch, White Cap, Gin and Pine, Champagne Velvet, and many more. There's also a section on the various spirits (Apricot Liqueur, Aquavit, Arrack, etc) as well as glassware shapes. Truly a magical vintage guide.
Condition: Excellent condition. Tight binding. All pages are in tact and in excellent shape. The cover (which is a hard, thick plastic) is in excellent shape. The pages are in good shape overall with some minor yellowing that paper gets over the course of decades. This book doesn't appear to have been used much. The black hard-cover is in good shape overall but does show a spot of wear to the front upper left, see photo. and a small area on the back where we presume the original owner blacked out the price. Overall, this small cocktail guide is in very good vintage condition. Cheers!
Measurements: the spiral-bound manual measures 5 1/2" tall x just shy of 4" wide; the box measures 5 3/4" tall by 4 1/4" in width
