A 1946 first edition Trader Vic's Book of Food & Drink with its original dust cover, signed/autographed by Trader Vic. Truly a magical mixology book. Trader Vic was a leader in the early tiki drink movement, which became popular when soldiers came home from the South Pacific after WWII. Cocktails herein, many of which are rum based, are given inspired names like Devil's Leap, La Florida daiquiri, shingle stain, rum julep, haote pikia, and dozens more.
Format: Hardcover, 272 pages.
Copyright: 1946, First Edition
Signed/Autographed (see photo #3)
Publisher: Doubleday
Author: Victor Bergeron
Condition: Very, very good vintage condition overall. The only reason we're listing it as "very good" instead of "great" is due to the condition of the dust jacket. See photos for reference. It has some very obvious wear, especially to the back section, where an entire piece of the dust jacket is missing (see last photo). The hardcover itself is in great shape. Tight binding. Clean pages. There's some mild yellowing (that occurs with all antique/vintage books). Also please note: the hardcover's design work was done in brown and green and a small spot of extra brown paint got on the front (above the "Trader Vics" font). We like to mention all things including manufacturing things, when it comes to our vintage items. It's pretty tough to make out, see photo #4 for reference. In short, this autographed book is in very good vintage condition for 75 years old. Truly a magical tiki mixology guide.
Book measures a tad over 7 1/2 x 5 x 4 3/4 inches
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage. Cheers!
**On our vintage books storage and shipping please note: We take the care of our antique mixology books very seriously. All books are handled with gloves and stored at 65 degrees. We also pack them with great care to ensure safe delivery.
