A rare 1947 first edition Bartender's Guide by Trader Vic (with the original dust cover). This book was reprinted in 1948 and later years ( through the 70s). We rarely come across the original 1947 first edition. Truly a magnificent vintage mixology book that was made in several colors including a yellow hard cover, a red hard cover, and this beige hard cover. This vintage guide is filled with more than 1,500 cocktail recipes, illustrations, and how to choose the perfect glass for your handcrafted beverage.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The pages are clean and crisp. There's minor age inline with a book that's 70+ years old. And wear to the dust cover. We like to be thorough when it comes to the exact condition of our vintage items, so here's a full summary:
1) The dust cover shows wear and is torn in a few small areas along the edges.
2) There's one small spot of discoloration (very subtle) on the hardcover's front right lower corner (see photo #9, it's tough to make out as it's very subtle)
3) There's very mild yellowing on the very inside of the hardcover (this often occurs to paper products over the course of decades)
The binding is extremely tight. In short, this book is in very, very good vintage condition. Truly a magical mixology guide.
Doubleday & Company Inc., Garden City, New York USA, 1947
Book measures 7 1/2 x 5 x 1 1/4 inches
