Trader Vic Bartender's Guide 1948, hard cover (no dust cover). Trader Vic made several colors of this book: a fabric/cloth beige hard cover, a bright yellow hard cover, and a reddish-orange hard cover. Trader Vic was a leader in the early tiki drink movement, which became popular when soldiers came home from the South Pacific after WWII and this vintage guide is filled with more than 1,500 cocktail recipes, illustrations, and how to choose the perfect glass for your handcrafted beverage. Truly a spectacular vintage mixology book. This comes with a bonus vintage Myers's Rum booklet (it was tucked inside the book) that contains vintage rum cocktail recipes.
Garden City Books, Garden City, New York USA, 1948
Condition: Very good vintage condition with mild but noticeable signs of age. The book itself is in excellent condition for its age (tight binding, crisp pages). Here's a full summary:
1) There is no dust cover
2) The binding is very secure/tight
3) Please NOTE: the previous owner's name is written in cursive inside one of the first pages (just below the "By Trader Vic") - see last photo
4) Some of the back pages have discoloration (likely due to how this book was stored)
In short, this guide is in very good condition overall but does show signs of age of a manufacturing occurrence. Truly a magnificent vintage mixology book. Cheers!
