A lovely set of 4 vintage Airlines glasses by Libbey, 1970s. These glasses feature 4 different Airlines carriers including:
Eastern Airlines - Eastern Air Lines (1926–1991) was one of the "Big Four" dominant U.S. carriers, pioneering routes from New York to Florida.
TWA - Trans World Airlines (TWA) was a major American airline operating from 1930 to 2001, pioneering the jet age and serving as one of the "Big Four" domestic carriers. Known for both domestic and international routes across Europe and the Middle East, TWA was acquired by American Airlines in 2001
B.O.A.C. - British Overseas Airways Corporation was the British state-owned, long-haul national airline from 1939 to 1974, created by merging Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd. Known for pioneering jet travel with the de Havilland Comet in 1952, it merged with BEA in 1974 to form British Airways.
Champion Clipper PAA - Pan American Airways (PAA) "Clippers" were iconic 1930s-1940s flying boats, most notably the Boeing 314, that pioneered long-range trans-Pacific and trans-Atlantic air travel. Led by Juan Trippe, they connected global routes, provided luxury travel, and served as military transports during WWII, defining international air service before modern jetliners
These glasses are 4 different low ball shapes and extremely heavy in weight. The Airlines patterns are stunning and the photos don't do this set justice. Truly a magical set.
