A stunning set of 8 "Shoji Trellis" Old-Fashioned glasses by Imperial Glass Company. Truly a breath-taking set. These glasses ooze Hollywood Regency. Made by Imperial Glass Co in the early 1960s, these glitzy tumblers have real 22k gold in the paint. The Trellis pattern is simply stunning with its raised texture from top to bottom. Truly a stunning set.

The Imperial Glass Company was founded in 1901 by Edward Muhleman, with production beginning in 1904. Their handmade glasswares were sold worldwide and were typically made of pressed glass patterns. Their "Shoji" line, which was manufactured from 1965 to 1974, gilded with real 22k gold and is the quintessential style of the Hollywood Regency Era.

Maker/year: Imperial Glass Company, 1965-1974

Hallmarks: Each is marked on the bottom with the Imperial Glass Company logo (some of the embossed logos are more faint or less embossed than others, purely a manufacturing design).

Measurements: just shy of 3 1/2" tall x 3" in diameter

Condition: Very good vintage condition overall with some minor gold loss in a small number of areas. The glasses have perfectly clarity and the gold is vibrant. Zero chips or nicks. We like to be as Type A and thorough as possible when it comes to our vintage glassware, so here's a glass by glass summary:

Glass 1 - no gold loss
Glass 2 - no gold loss
Glass 3 - no gold loss from wear, however this particular glass/pattern would often not get "filled" in when the glass was being created, so there are some areas of the gold that appear to not be fully "filled in" with gold (as opposed to gold loss from wear that's been worn/rubbed away). Completely common with this particular glassware pattern.
Glass 4 - very mild gold loss to the top of the rim
Glass 5 - no gold loss
Glass 6 - no gold loss from wear, however this particular glass/pattern would often not get "filled" in when the glass was being created, so there are some areas of the gold that appear to not be fully "filled in" with gold (as opposed to gold loss from wear that's been worn/rubbed away). Completely common with this particular glassware pattern.
Glass 7 - no gold loss from wear, however this particular glass/pattern would often not get "filled" in when the glass was being created, so there are some areas of the gold that appear to not be fully "filled in" with gold (as opposed to gold loss from wear that's been worn/rubbed away). Completely common with this particular glassware pattern.
Glass 8 - this glass has the most gold loss/wear (see photo #5 for reference, it's the glass on the right); this glass has noticeable wear/gold loss on the top/rim area as well as some part of the glass

In short, this set is in good vintage condition with mild signs of gold loss on several of the glasses (and particularly noticeable loss on 1 glass) as well as two manufacturing flaws (where the gold didn't get fully "filled in").

Cheers!
