A gorgeous set of 8 Art Deco red Bakelite muddler stirrer spoons, in their original silk-lined box. These silver-plated spoons form stirrers with flattened tips for "muddling" and a cherry red Bakelite ball finial that screams Art Deco. We believe these spoon finials to be Bakelite, although they haven't been tested. The cherry Bakelite tips are a bold cherry red (it was tough to capture their true vibrancy in photos). Truly a breath-taking set. A popular drink in the 1920s and 30s was the Old-Fashioned cocktail which consisted of whiskey, water, sugar, bitters and a slice of orange. The contents were "muddled" in a glass. The muddler was often left in the old-fashioned glass and served. So why not serve your cocktails in elegance and style with these stunning Art Deco muddler spoons?!
Condition: Very good vintage condition overall with some wear/age. The silver-plating is vibrant overall. Each spoon has tarnish that may or may not polish away and several of the spoons have a few tiny age spots in the spoon bed that will likely not polish away. The Bakelite red ball tips show some age (which happens to Bakelite over the years) but is in good condition overall. One of the spoons has some plate loss (see photo #5 for reference). The box is in great vintage condition and features an Art Deco gold detailing along the edges. The brass clasps close perfectly. There are two tiny stains to the interior silk lining (see photo for reference). Overall, these spoons are in very, vergy vintage condition and truly a stunning set.
