A lovely Hog or "Bore" stirrup cup, circa 1970s. This silver-plated cup features the most incredible detailing...from the Hog's tusks to his fur. And when turned upside down, it rests perfectly on its head. Truly a neat figural stirrup cup.

A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.

Hallmarks/Era: None, 1970s

Measurements: Approx. 6" tall

Condition: Good vintage condition with very mild signs of age. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces, so here's a full summary:

1) There's general, very minor "surface wear" to the silver-plating exterior
2) There's "age" and wear to the interior of the cup (see photo #6, please note the "black lines" you see are our wooden celing beams/reflection)
3) Please note: the head of this stirrup cup has two intentional tiny "holes" slightly larger than a pin head (we assume for aeration purposes, we've sold vintage stirrup cups for years and many from the 1970s area all have these aeration holes) -- see photo #4 and #5

No dents or dings. Overall, this cup is in good vintage condition but does show mild signs of age/minor wear. It displays beautifully.

We're selling other stirrup cup (a Stag/Deer) by this same vintage manufacturer, if you'd like a pair. See other listings. Cheers!

**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible (glassware sets typically ship in their own box to ensure safe arrival) and will reimburse you for any shipping overages.

****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
