Swoon! Mid-Century glassware enthusiasts get ready for this stunning set of Culver Ltd. "Antigua" tumblers. The gold (Culver used 22k gold in their gold gilding) is so vibrant we had a tough time capturing photos that didn't have major glare/reflection from the vibrancy of the gold. Truly a breath-taking set. The raised/embossed texture is simply stunning, featuring a series of ovals encased in gold!
There are 6 glasses/tumblers in this set.
A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others. The Antigua pattern is the true essence of Hollywood Regency and vintage glam!
Maker/era: Culver Ltd " Antigua" pattern, 1950s
Hallmarks: Five (5) glasses are signed "Culver Ltd" in gold (of those 5, 2 of the signatures are every so slightly faded); the other three (3) glasses do not bare the hallmark
Measurements: Each glass is 5 1/2" tall x 3" in diameter
Condition: Great condition. Zero nicks or chips. The gold is extremely vibrant. The glass clarity is completely clear (no cloudiness). Some of the glasses have "seams" (see photo #6 for reference) as these glasses were made in "molds" that often resulted in what appears to be a "seam". Completely common with MCM glassware. Truly a stunning set of Mid-Century glasses.
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
