A stunning and rare set of Culver "Aqua Tiffany" glassware. This set includes a shot glass caddy [that holds six (6) shot glasses] and three (3) double rocks glasses. Culver made several "Tiffany" patterns (including one that featured a black and gold "mesh" texture). This Tiffany pattern features a vibrant Aqua/Turquoise pattern of elongated cutouts surrounded by a vibrant gold mesh. The caddy is a vibrant gold-plated metal with a walnut/wooden handle. The shot glasses are surprisingly heavy in weight for their small size. These are earlier Culver, late 1940s/early 1950s. The texture is simply stunning.Truly a breath-taking set.
This set includes 10 pieces: 3 double rocks glasses, 1 shot glass caddy, 6 shot glasses
Maker/year: Culver "Aqua Tiffany", late 1940s (based on the signature which is a specific cursive font, see photo for reference).
A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others. The Tiffany pattern is one of Culver's harder to find patterns and is the essence of vintage gold-embossed glassware.
Hallmarks: All glasses and shot glasses are signed "Culver" in gold cursive
Measurements: The large rocks glasses measure 4" tall x 4" in diameter; the shot glasses measure 2 1/4" tall x 2" in diameter
Condition: Very good vintage condition. These glasses and shot glass caddy have been in a display cabinet for decades. The gold is vibrant. No chips or nicks.
1) Please note: these glasses were made in molds and you can see the "seam" on each glass and shot glass, it's very subtle (completely common with this particular pattern and many MCM glassware).
2) There's some very minor gold loss and age that comes purely from time but overall this set is in very good shape
3) Another common manufacturing occurrence with MCM glassware was micro tiny bumps (they feel like "Braille" when you run your finger over it, but very hard to actually see) -- two of these glasses have that in the very bottom interior, it's extremely subtle
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we don't make a penny on shipping. We often double-box our glassware sets, which means a larger, heavier box, to ensure safe delivery.
