A stunning set of 5 Culver "Cul54" rocks glasses. These glasses are simply breath-taking and feature a heavily-embossed pattern of gold and deep black. The pattern has a bit of an Art Deco feel to it with art Deco-esque thin gold lines connecting the top and bottom pattern. The black portion is heavily enameled. Heavier in weight, these glasses have a solid feel to them. Why not serve your drinks in these vintage low balls?!? Truly a breath-taking pattern.
Maker/pattern: Culver Ltd. / CUL54* (Culver also made this exact pattern in gold and a stark white).
A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver was famous for their stunning decorative glassware in 22-karat gold – think lavish and opulent cocktailware of the 1950s and 60s. In the late 1950’s, Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others.
Hallmarks: None. These glasses do not bare the Culver signature
Measurements: Approx. 3 1/4" tall x 3 1/2" diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of wear.
We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage glassware, so here's a full summary:
1) You can see the "seam" on one side of each glass/pattern (purely the nature of Mid Century glassware and how the pattern was applied to the glass), see photo #5 for reference
2) Two of the glasses' thin gold vertical lines (that run from the top trim to the middle section) has faded or is missing
3) There's minor gold loss in a few places on the top band/trim pattern
Please note: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).
No chips or nicks of any kind. In short, these glasses are in good vintage condition but do show mild signs of age/wear. They display beautifully. Truly a gorgeous set.
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. We pack our glassware extremely well, which means a larger heavier box.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage. Cheers!
