A lovely martini/cocktail pitcher by Culver. This lovely set (pattern name "Sorrento") includes a martini pitcher, a long glass stirring wand, and 6 smaller footed glasses. The heavily textured green pattern is simply lovely. Truly a stunning set.
A bit about this manufacturer: Culver was famous for their stunning decorative glassware in 22-karat gold – think lavish and opulent cocktailware of the 1950s and 60s. In the late 1950’s, Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others. Their glassware bares several signatures (depending on the era) including "Culver Ltd" (Ltd = Limited), "Culver", and "Culver with a C inside a circle" (a copyright symbol). Culver stopped producing its gold overlay pieces in the 1980s.
Maker/pattern: Culver, Sorrento
Hallmarks: None of the pieces are signed; Culver did not sign this pattern
Measurements: The pitcher measures 9 1/4" tall; the wand measures 11 3/4" in length; the footed glasses measure 2 3/4" tall.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The footed glasses feature a very subtle, gold rim and some of the glasses gold rims have worn/aren't very visible (while some are) -- beyond that, this set is in very good vintage condition. Great glass clarity (no cloudiness). No chips or nicks. Please note: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware). There's one tiny bubble in the glass of the pitcher, near the top rim. Overall, this set is in very good vintage condition and displays beautifully. Cheers!
