A stunning set of 6 Culver "Empress" tumblers. This pattern features a stunning combination of 22k gold embossing (that has a "crackle" to it) surround vibrant blue and green rectangles. The pictures don't do the vibrancy and intensity of the blue and green colors justice. Truly a breath-taking pattern! The raised or 3-D like texture of this pattern is downright gorgeous.
A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others. The Empress pattern is the essence of Hollywood Regency and vintage glam.
Maker/pattern: Culver Ltd., "Empress" pattern
Hallmarks: Three of the glasses have a "faint" Culver signature; three of them do not
Measurements: Approx 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter
Condition: Very, very good vintage condition. These glasses have been in a display cabinet for years. The glass has perfect clarity, no cloudiness. The gold is vibrant. There is extremely, extremely minimal wear (from age, not use). The gold and green enamel is in very good condition. Please note: Mid Century glassware often had basic imperfections that occurred during the manufacturing process, such as a spot of extra gold paint, a place where the enamel didn't get fully applied/filled in, etc. (purely the nature of MCM glassware). A few of these glasses have a few "boxes" where the gold didn't get fully filled in (see photo #4). Again, purely the nature of Mid Century glassware! In short, these glasses are in very, very good vintage condition and display beautifully.
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we are not making a penny on shipping. We pack our items securely to ensure safe arrival (especially our glassware, which means a larger, heavier box)! If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible (glassware sets typically ship in their own box to ensure safe arrival) and will reimburse you for any shipping overages.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
