A lovely set of 8 Culver "Empress" tumblers. This pattern features a stunning combination of 22k gold embossing (that has an intentional "crackle" to it) surrounding vibrant blue and green rectangles. The pictures don't do the vibrancy and intensity of the blue and green colors justice. Truly a breath-taking pattern! The raised or 3-D like texture of this pattern is simply gorgeous.

A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others. The Empress pattern is the essence of Hollywood Regency and vintage glam.

This set includes 8 glasses

Maker/pattern: Culver Ltd., "Empress" pattern

Hallmarks: All glasses are signed "Culver Ltd"

Measurements: Approx 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter

Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age and mild gold loss in a few small areas and a few manufacturing occurrences. We like to be thorough so here's a full summary:

1) There's an extra bit of gold on one of the blue squares that occurred during manufacturing (see photo)
2) There's mild gold loss in a number of areas on the gold trim around the enameled squares (see photos #4 and #5 as an example)
3) There a a couple of areas where the gold and/or green enamel didn't get fully "filled in" (purely the nature of Mid Century glassware, especially on this Culver pattern) - see photo #8 where our finger is pointing
4) One glass has has a tiny opaque "mark" on the glass the size of a pinhead (purely the nature of Mid Century glassware)
5) The green and blue enamel is in good shape overall but does show very mild signs of age (purely from time)

In short, these glasses are in good vintage condition overall with mild gold loss in a few places and a few manufacturing occurrences. They display beautifully. Truly a lovely set.

***Please note / general vintage glassware disclaimer: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).

**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we are not making a penny on shipping. We pack our items securely to ensure safe arrival (especially our glassware, which means a larger, heavier box)! If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible.

****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
