A rare set of Culver Giraffe tumblers/glasses. This pattern is one of Culver's more rare patterns and features a 22 karat gold embossed/enameled giraffes (the giraffes spots are a "raised" enameled texture). These glasses have a gold band just below the rim. The gold Culver used on this pattern is a "softer" gold tone than others (i.e. their Panda glasses and many others featured a more yellow gold, as this gold tone is a softer lighter tone). Truly a stunning and rare set.

A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver created the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others.

Maker/pattern/era: Culver Ltd., Giraffe pattern, Mid Century

Hallmarks: None. These glasses do not bare the Culver signature

Measurements: Approx. 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter

Condition: Very good vintage condition with mild gold loss in a few places. These glasses have a great clarity (no cloudiness). No chips or nicks. We're pretty Type A about the condition of our glassware, so here's a glass by glass summary:

Glass 1: No gold loss
Glass 2: Gold loss to the gold band (below the rim) and very, very mild loss to the giraffe's head and lower feet
Glass 3: Gold loss to the gold band (below the rim) and very, very mild loss to the giraffe's lower feet
Glass 4: Gold loss to the gold band (below the rim) and very, very mild loss to the giraffe's head

In short, these glasses are in good vintage condition with mild gold loss. They display beautifully. Truly a stunning set.

Please note: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a tiny bit of residue where an extra bit of glue around the jewels when they were applied, the jewels are perfectly aligned, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).

We're also selling a matching set of rocks glasses in this pattern. See other listings.

Cheers!
