A lovely set of 4 Mid Century Culver "Tennis Racket" (Tennis Racquet) glasses. Such a lovely pattern that features embossed black and gold tennis rackets with stark white tennis balls and a raised gold trim at the top, middle, and bottom. These rocks glasses have a nice, weighted feel to them. Truly a lovely set. We're not up on our Tennis terms (Match, Serve, Set), but we do know these Mid Century glasses are a "Win". Cheers.
Maker/era: Culver; Mid Century
A bit about this vintage manufacturer: Culver was famous for their stunning decorative glassware in 22-karat gold – think lavish and opulent cocktailware of the 1950s and 60s. In the late 1950’s, Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others. Culver stopped producing its gold overlay pieces in the 1980s.
Hallmarks: All glasses are signed "Culver Ltd"
Measurements: Each glass is approx 3 1/2" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of wear. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces/sets, so here's a full summary:
1) All the "Culver" signatures are slightly faded
2) One glass has some micro tiny dots near the top rim (that feel like "Braille") -- very common with Mid Century glassware and often occurred during manufacturing - it's very small and subtle
3) There's very, very minor gold loss. The gold is vibrant and in tact overall
4) There's very minor surface wear to the bottom of the glasses (not necessarily from use but likely from storage and handling in the past)
Great glass clarity (no cloudiness). In short, these vintage glasses are in good vintage condition with minor signs of age. Truly a stunning set that displays beautifully.
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we are not making a penny on shipping. We pack our items securely to ensure safe arrival ( (especially our glassware, which means a larger, heavier box)!
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage. Cheers! L~.
