A lovely set of eight (8) "Turtle" and "Owl Collins glasses by Culver, Mid Century, still in the original box.  Each pattern is simply breath-taking. This set includes 4 Owl glasses and 4 Turtle glasses (this set is still in the original box we presume it came in). The Owl glasses feature owls perched on branches. The Turtle glasses feature a "raised" texture of a whimsical turtle. Something to note: the "golds" are different (purely the nature of each pattern). The owl glasses are more of a yellow gold and the turtle glasses are more of a bronze gold. Both patterns are simply stunning.

A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver was famous for their stunning decorative glassware in 22-karat gold – think lavish and opulent cocktailware of the 1950s and 60s. In the late 1950’s, Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others.

Maker/Era: Culver, 1960s

Hallmarks: The four Owl glasses are signed "Culver Ltd" in gold cursive font; the four Turtle glasses do NOT bare a signature

Measurements: Each glass is approx 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter

Condition: Very good condition. This set is NOS (new old stock) and appears to have never been used. The glass clarity is perfectly clear. Here's a summary of any occurrences or age that we see:

1) One of the owl glasses has a manufacturing flaw to the glass (see last photo) that appears they attempted to fix with a bit of extra glass (not uncommon during the examination of each created glass, post heating process). It's noticeable and therefore we are not including this glass in the pricing of this set - see last photo.
2) The box shows age that cardboard gets over the course of decades. The glasses are all in excellent shape.
3) There's general "age" that comes purely from time.
4) There are a few micro tiny areas where the gold didn't get filled in (very tiny, pinhead size or smaller).

In short, this set is in good vintage condition overall with a manufacturing occurrence to one glass. This set displays beautifully.

Please note: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).

**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery.
