A stunning vintage silver-plated Gorham "Dancing Elephants" jigger. Truly a magical piece. This jigger, circa 1940s, showcases three pink-enameled elephants, each in a different dance pose and holds up to 3 ounces (each etched line represents 1 ounce, so one can measure exact ounces). Truly a neat figural bar measure.

A little bit about this maker: Jabez Gorham started Gorham silver in 1831 in a shop on Steeple Street in Providence, Rhode Island. Born to a family of eight, he was apprenticed to New England silver patriarch Nehemiah Dodge at a very early age. Dodge is known as one of the founders of the silver and jewelry crafts industry in 18th century New England. After his seven-year apprenticeship with Dodge, Jabez formed his own business and quickly established a name for himself. For more than 150 years Gorham Silver has been known as one of the preeminent silversmith companies in the world and well-known for their vintage barware items including this Dancing Elephants jigger.

Maker/year: Gorham, 1940s

Hallmarks: "“Gorham EP YC80" can be found on the bottom of the jigger

Measurements: 3" tall (holds 3 ounces total; 1 ounce per elephant)

Condition: Fair/good condition. We're listing this as "fair to good" due to some dings on the bottom of the jigger as well as one on the rim. Here's a full summary:

1) The rim isn't perfectly round; there are some dings
2) The bottom/edges of the jigger has a number of small but noticeable dings
3) Some of the pink enamel has worn away on the elephants (see photos)
4) There's some mild tarnish to the very bottom of the jigger (see photos)

There's general surface wear and age. Overall, the silver-plating is in good condition. In short, this jigger is in "fair/good" condition due to a number of small dings and some worn enamel. Please see photos. Cheers!
