A stunning early 1900s flask. This flask has a pewter ornate encasing over a heavy glass flask. The pictures don't do this piece justice. Extremely heavy in weight, this pewter and glass flask has a screw-on cap that has its original cork inside. The scrolled overlay detailing is simply stunning; we tried to capture it by zooming in. The lid is simply breath-taking with a heavily embossed floral pattern. This flask has a magical feel to it. Truly a breath-taking antique piece.
Condition: Good vintage condition with signs of age/wear inline with a piece that's over 100 years old. There's patina (which is part of this piece's magical factor) -- please note, it will likely not polish up to a vibrant silver. Here's a full summary:
1) The pewter encasing is in good shape overall but you can see a very subtle "seams" -- see photo #6 (which was how it was applied over the glass flask) if you look closely at the sides of the bottom pewter section (which can slide off, to reveal the glass flask, if you choose to remove it)
2) There's general "surface wear" to the pewter (from past handling, etc)
3) There aren't any major dings but there are a few very, very subtle shallow spots that can be seen (keep in mind the bottom sleeve/piece was hand-forged)
4) There's a "wrinkle" in the glass (see photo #5), it is not a crack. We've examined it under a 10x loop. Vintage glass often had "wrinkles" in the glass, or waves or other imperfections as they were made in molds
In short, this piece is in good vintage condition and inline with a pewter flask that's over 100 years old. Truly a stunning antique piece.
**Please Note: we typically do not test our flasks for leakage. We offer a variety of vintage flasks (both usable as well as collectible/display only). We are happy to put our flasks through a thorough leakage test (which involves filling it with liquid and rigorously shaking it) -- please message us if you'd like us to test this particular flask. Cheers!
