Get your motors running, glassware enthusiasts! A fun set of 8 Mid-Century glasses that include 4 "Ethyl Gasohol" glasses by Cera and 4 "Motor Oil" glasses by Libbey.

The Cera glasses feature a cheeky pattern that includes a vibrant red and yellow and black pattern of "Ethyl Gasohol" that mimics the original ad and also has the ounce capacity (14 oz) along with "Contents - Pure Alcohol". One side of the glass has a "Full to Empty" measurement where you can see the contents of your glass and the other side a "Temperature" gauge and you  can also see the contents of your glass and where they fall on the gauge. Start your engines, Mid Century glassware enthusiasts. Cheers!

The Libbey Phillips 66 Trop Artic Motor Oil" glasses were made by Libbey for Phillips 66 and mimic a "motor oil can" on the front and back in a stark white, red, black, and vibrant gold.

Makers: Cera, Libbey

Hallmarks: All glasses (Cera, Libbey embossed)

A bit about Cera: Cera Glass was made in Hackensack, NJ, USA, in the 1950s & 60s.  They created elegant cocktail glasses, barware and other specialty pieces, which were sold in high end department stores of the era.  Anthony Velonis, who was already a famous WPA silkscreener and artist, started the Cera Glass Company which pioneered methods of silkscreen printing on glass.  Similar to other Mid Century glassware makers, his designs were trimmed in 22K gold as well as thick enameled patterns.

A bit about Libbey: The Libbey Glass Company has been manufacturing glassware since the 20th Century and is still producing high quality glassware today. Certain vintage Libbey glassware pieces (but not all of them, depending on the size and type of piece) is signed with a cursive “L” within a circle or ring.  The mark actually appears backwards if viewed from outside of the glass, but it appears correctly when looking down through the inside.

Gasohol glasses measurements: 4" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter / Trop Artic Motor Oil measurements: 3 3/4" tall  x 3" diameter

Cera Glasses Condition: Very good vintage condition. The enamel is in great shape overall and vibrant. There's one tiny mark on the top of the red enamel of one glass (see photo #4) appears to be a manufacturing occurrence. In short, these Mid Century glasses are in good shape with very mild signs of age or wear.

Trop Artic Glasses Condition: Very good vintage condition with very minor signs of age. The enamel is in great shape overall and the gold is vibrant. Great glass clarity, no cloudiness. We see one "flaw" to the enamel on one glass that look like two tiny "scrapes" (perhaps a manufacturing occurrence). See photo #5, the left hand side of the white enamel at the very top of the glass/pattern. In short, these Mid Century glasses are in very, very good vintage condition.
