A stunning set of 4 Georges Briard Mid Century Modern tumblers. These glasses are downright stunning with a heavily embossed gold and white pattern that has an Art Deco style to it. The pictures don't do them justice. Truly a breath-taking set.

A quick summary about this glassware maker: Georges Briard was the go-to for decorative housewares in the 1950s and 60s and was carried at upscale retails like Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. Briard’s success and notoriety came with the use of 22-karat gold as screened decoration for bent glassware. His design hallmarks are repetitive patterns, most often featuring geometric shapes or nature based images. Georges Briard is known for creating some of the most stunning Mid Century Modern glassware as well as Atomic and Kitsch designs in the later 1970s and is the essence of MCM glassware excellence.

Maker/year: Georges Briard, 1950s

Hallmarks: All glasses are signed "Georges Briard" in 22k gold cursive

Measurements: 5 3/4" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter

Condition: Very good vintage condition with very minor signs of age and gold loss. The glass clarity is clear (no cloudiness). The 22k gold is extremely vibrant. We're pretty Type A about describing the exact condition of our vintage items, so here's a glass by glass summary:

Glass 1 - Near pristine
Glass 2 - Some very minor gold loss in two very small areas
Glass 3 - Two very small areas of gold loss in two very small areas; one area near the upper rim that's a flaw in the glass (these glasses were made in molds so micro tiny bubbles and other imperfections are completely common in Mid Century glassware)
Glass 4 - Near pristine

In short, these glasses are in very, very good vintage condition and display beautifully.
