A lovely set of seven (7) Georges Briard "Imperial Brocade" stemmed glasses. This Georges Briard pattern feature a beautiful vibrant deep orange and 22k gold detailing that's simply stunning. We had a tough time capturing just how stunning and vibrant the pattern is (we took photos in two different lighting settings). The pictures don't do this pattern justice. Truly a breath-taking set.
A quick summary about this glassware maker: Georges Briard was the go-to for decorative housewares in the 1950s and 60s and was carried at upscale retails like Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. Briard’s success and notoriety came with the use of 22-karat gold as screened decoration for bent glassware. His design hallmarks are repetitive patterns, most often featuring geometric shapes or nature based images. Georges Briard is known for creating some of the most stunning Mid Century Modern glassware as well as Atomic and Kitsch designs in the later 1970s and is the essence of MCM glassware excellence.
This set includes 7 stemmed glasses
Maker/year: Georges Briard, Imperial Brocade pattern, 1960s
Hallmarks: glasses are signed "Georges Briard" in gold
Measurements: 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter
Condition: Very, very good vintage condition. These glasses have been in a display cabinet for years and don't appear to have gotten much use. Some of the "Georges Briard" gold signatures are ever so slightly faded and there's some very minor general "age" (that comes purely from time, not necessarily use). In short, these stemmed glasses are in very good vintage condition with minor age. They display beautifully.
Please note: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible (glassware sets typically ship in their own box to ensure safe arrival) and will reimburse you for any shipping overages. Please note: we're not making a penny on shipping. We pack our glassware well to ensure safe arrival, which means a larger, heavier box.
>> We've recently added a cheaper shipping option (USPS Parcel Select Ground) as we know shipping costs have increased quite a bit! Please note that the Ground shipping will take up to twice as long to arrive (5-8 business days) than Priority Mail (2-5 business days). If you need your order quickly, please select Priority. Cheers!
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage..
