A quick summary on this glassware maker: Georges Briard was the go-to for decorative housewares in the 1950s and 60s and was carried at upscale retails like Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.  Briard’s success and notoriety came with the use of 22-karat gold as screened decoration for bent glassware. His design hallmarks are repetitive patterns, most often featuring geometric shapes or nature based images.  Georges Briard is known for creating some of the most stunning Mid Century Modern glassware as well as Atomic and Kitsch designs in the later 1970s and is the essence of MCM glassware excellence.

Maker / Era: Georges Briard, 1960s

Hallmarks: All glasses (with the exception of one of the tall glasses) bares "Georges Briard" in gold cursive.

Measurements: The tall highball glasses measure 5 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter; the low ball glasses measure 3 1/2" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter

Condition: Very good vintage condition overall with some mild signs of age that comes purely from time. These glasses don't appear to have been used. The glass clarity is pristine (no cloudiness). There are a few occurrences (manufacturing as well as purely from time/age) -- here's a full summary:

1) One of the highball Golf glasses signature is faded or didn't get applied fully, so this glass's signature is barely present -- all other glasses signatures are present.
2) On the low ball Tennis glasses, both glasses have small, subtle areas within the Tennis racket where the criss-cross gold pattern is lighter (it likely occurred during manufacturing and didn't get applied as heavily in those areas -- see photo #8 where our finger is pointing as an example).
3) One of the white Tennis "balls" on the low ball glasses didn't get fully filled in as heavily on the bottom of the ball; again, purely the nature of Mid Century glassware patterns.
3) A few of the highball Golf glasses have a tiny "wrinkle" in the glass on the very bottom -- it is extremely subtle but we like to be thorough. Purely the nature of how Mid Century glassware was made and occurred when the glass was made in its "mold".

In short, these glasses are in very good vintage condition with very mild age and a few minor manufacturing occurrences. They have a magical feel to them and display beautifully. Cheers.
