A lovely vintage Goat stirrup jigger. Made of pewter, this stirrup features a "Billy Goat" (a male goat with horns) upper and jigger bottom and rests perfectly on its heads/horns when turned upside down. Heavier in weight, this piece is solid and well-crafted. The detailing of the Goat is stunning, from the horns to the fur. Truly a neat piece.

Hallmarks/era: None; 1970s

A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.

Condition: Good vintage condition overall but this piece does show mild signs of age. There's mild what we refer to as "surface wear" that includes micro scrapes and fine scratches here and there. The interior is completely clean. No dents or dings. The rim is perfectly round. It displays beautifully.

Measurements: 3 1/4" tall
