A magical and rare set of 4 "Wall Street" glasses Hammacher Schlemmer. Mid Century. These neat figural tumblers feature the figural Bull and Bear along with tickers symbols in the background. Each glass also has a vibrant gold trimmed band along the top. Truly a neat set. We're not much on gambling in the Stock Market, but these glasses seem like a safe bet. Cheers!
Hallmarks: Three of the glasses are signed Hammacher Schlemmer in gold cursive (the 4th glass is signed but part of the signature has faded, see photo)
Hammacher Schlemmer Company/history: Hammacher Schlemmer began as a hardware store specializing in hard-to-find tools in the Bowery district of New York City in 1848. It became one of the first national hardware stores and eventually catalog merchandise. Perhaps no other retailer has a history as unique as Hammacher Schlemmer or holds such a special place in the hearts and minds of consumers. One of the first national hardware stores and one of America's very first catalog merchandisers, Hammacher Schlemmer has consistently surprised, intrigued and ultimately satisfied a worldwide audience with products that can only be described as "the Best, the Only, and the Unexpected." Ownership of the company finally left the Schlemmer family in 1953, passing onto a series of corporate owners.
Condition: Good vintage condition overall. The black and gold pattern is vibrant. The glass clarity is clear (no cloudiness). No chips or nicks. There's some very minimal gold loss in a few places and one of the signatures has faded, see picture #x). In short, these rare glasses are in good vintage condition with mild signs of age/wear and display beautifully. Cheers!
Measurements: 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. These glasses will be packed extremely well (which means a larger, heavier box) to ensure safe arrival.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage. Cheers!
