A stunning Mid Century 8-piece Hazel Atlas Pink "Musical Pigs" ice bucket/glasses set. Such a magical pattern, which originated in the 50s, of a whimsical scene of pink enameled dancing pigs, musical instruments, and music notes. We tried to capture all sides of the pattern (of a pig playing a saxophone, a cello, a guitar, etc). Truly a magical, figural pattern that screams Mid Century!
A bit of history on this glassware maker: The Hazel-Atlas Glass Company was a large producer of machine-molded glass containers headquartered in Wheeling, West Virginia. It was founded in 1902 in Washington, Pennsylvania. Hazel Atlas became industrious in formulating unique colors into design. One of the hallmarks of Hazel-Atlas glass after World War II is the prevalence of fired-on patterns and designs, many created by Gay Fad Decorating Company. Glasses, especially whiskey and highball tumblers, as well as cocktail shakers to match, were decorated with dancing sailors, hats, windmills, maple leaves, daisies, musical instruments, and flying geese. Their most notable design collections include pink and white polka-dots and pink elephants.
Hallmarks: for this particular pattern the Hazel Atlas logo (a circle with an H inside of it) was embossed on particular pieces like the smaller drinking glasses but not on certain sized glasses or the ice bucket. So these pieces do not bare the embossed H logo.
Maker/pattern/year: Hazel Atlas, Musical Pigs, 1950s
Condition: Excellent condition. The glass is clear, zero chips, or nicks. The enameled pattern is a vibrant pink and in great shape. There is some very minimal/general wear (i.e. a few very, very light scratches to the glass in a few places) and some very, very minimal wear to a spot or two to the enamel. In short, this set is in very, very good condition and displays beautifully.
Measurements: The ice bucket is 4 1/4" tall x 5 1/2" in diameter; the glasses measure 4 3/4" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter
The set includes: 1 ice bucket and 7 glasses
Words can't express how magical this set is. Cheers!
