A stunning heavy Crystal martini cocktail pitcher by Carlo Masini, 1940s. This mixer is simply breath-taking. The crystal is extremely heavy in weight and features an 800 sterling silver rim that has the most stunning Art Deco detailing. This mixer comes with a silver-plated Martini spoon/stirrer that is not original to the mixer but we're a bit superstitious about leaving vintage pieces that are found together together. THe spoon features an apple finial with dramatic leaves around it and a scalloped "paddle" for stirring/mixing. The pictures don't do this set justice. It has a magical feel to it.
A little bit about this vintage manufacturer: Carlo Masini Silversmiths was an artisanal silver workshop based in Florence (Firenze), Italy, circca 1940s. He became renowned as the first artisan in Italy to blend fine sterling silver work with etched crystal barware and hollowware. Because "197" is a relatively low registration number, it signifies that this workshop is one of the oldest surviving silver manufacturers in the Florence region.
Hallmarks: "800" and "197Fl" can be found on the top strainer portion (see photos).
Condition: Very, very good vintage condition. We like to be thorough so here's a full summary:
1) The crystal is perfectly clear (no cloudiness).
2) The silver rim has mild tarnish/patina.
3) The spoon's silver-plating has tarnish (on the finial as well as the paddle).
In short, this vintage set is in very good condition with mild signs of age and tarnish. It has a magical feel to it and displays beautifully.
Measurements: The pitcher measures just shy of 8" (this includes the tall spout); the spoon measures 11 3/4" in length
