A stunning and rare set of 8 Mid-Century Libbey "Platinum Artica" glasses (which mimics a vibrant chrome silver tone). These glasses were sold in the early 1970s and are nothing short of stunning with their Brutalist design and vibrant silver/chrome color. The most stunning feature is their heavily textured pattern. These Modernist glasses have a slightly footed bottom and a subtle tapered shape. Libbey made this glass design in an amber colored glass as well as clear glass. The "Platinum" color is the most rare of the colors. Truly a breath-taking set. Why not serve your cocktails in these gorgeous vintage glasses?!?
A quick summary about this glassware maker: The Libbey Glass Company has been manufacturing glassware since the 20th Century and is still producing high quality glassware today. Certain vintage Libbey glassware pieces (but not all of them, depending on the size and type of piece) is signed with a cursive “L” within a circle or ring. The mark actually appears backwards if viewed from outside of the glass, but it appears correctly when looking down through the inside.
Maker/pattern/era: Libbey, Platinum Artica, early 1970s
Hallmarks: The glasses bare a cursive "L" for Libbey (the L on a couple of the glasses is very faint or missing as they likely didn't get embossed as deeply during manufacturing).
Measurements: 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter
Condition: Great vintage condition. These glasses have been preserved in a cabinet for decades. The silver is extremely vibrant and thick (we've noticed on some Artica glasses the silver doesn't get applied as heavily but this set's platinum silver is applied very well and heavily). There's no actual "wear". On one glass/rim we noticed the silver didn't get applied as heavily in one area. Beyond that, these glasses are near pristine. Zero chips, nicks, or cracks. Truly a stunning set.
We have another set of 6 tumblers in this pattern, if you're interested in a larger set. See other listings!
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we are not making a penny on shipping. We pack our glassware very well.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage. Cheers!
>>> IMPORTANT UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS/PROOF OF ORDER ACCURACY & SHIPMENT: on orders with MULTIPLE pieces please note that if your order has more than one item/piece in it (so multiple pieces such as a set of jiggers, cocktail picks, tags, Julep cups, combined shipping orders, etc.) please take care to thoroughly empty the box and unpack ALL pieces which may be hidden in tissue paper, bubble wrap, peanuts, etc. We cannot be responsible if you accidentally throw one of your items away! We WILL be able to confirm with 100% certainty that we shipped ALL pieces in your order as we photograph/document ALL PIECES in the box it ships in along with the buyer’s order receipt, shipping label, and tracking number (in case we need to verify that all pieces were shipped once the package has been received).
