A stunning set of 6 Mid Century Libbey "Cities of the World" footed cocktail glasses. These glasses are magical with their vibrant graphics and subtle gold rims. Each city depicts what its known for (i.e. a bull fighter for Madrid). These Mid Century glassware pattern came in this footed glass, rocks glasses, and taller tumblers. Heavier in weight, these footed glasses have a solid feel to them. Truly a stunning set.
The 6 glasses / cities include: Havana, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Athens, and Hague
Maker/Pattern/Era: Libbey, "Cities of the World", Mid Century
Hallmarks: None. These glasses do not bare any hallmarks; the other sizes this pattern came in (rocks glasses and taller tumblers) had an "L" on the bottom -- however this "footed" style, does not bare the Libbey hallmark.
A quick summary about this glassware maker: The Libbey Glass Company has been manufacturing glassware since the 20th Century and is still producing high quality glassware today. Certain vintage Libbey glassware pieces (but not all of them, depending on the size and type of piece) is signed with a cursive “L” within a circle or ring. The mark actually appears backwards if viewed from outside of the glass, but it appears correctly when looking down through the inside. This Cities of the World pattern remains one of their most popular.
Measurements: These glasses measure 4 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter
Condition: Very good vintage condition with mild signs of age. There is some minor wear to some of the gold rims. There's minor wear to the "A" on Athens glass. One of the glasses has a micro tiny bubble in the base (completely common for Mid Century glassware). A couple of the glasses have tiny dots (smaller than a pin head) of extra enamel on the clear glass (again, completely common with Mid Century glassware). Overall, the pattern on all glasses is vibrant and in good condition. In short, this set is in very good vintage condition with mild signs of age and a few minor manufacturing occurrences. Truly a stunning set that displays beautifully.
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we're not making a penny on shipping! We pack our glassware very well; this set will be double-boxed -- which means a larger, heavier box.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage. Cheers!
