A lovely and rare set of Libbey "MOD Reindeer" glasses. These glasses were made at the same time Libbey made their "Kit Kat Cool Cat" pattern. Libbey created this pattern in the early 1960s and is nothing short of magical. These frosted glasses feature a black reindeer donning a pink (or Turquoise blue) scarf and hat. These glasses often (but not always) came with jewels on the neck of the scarf and/or one on the ankle of the deer -- or both). Truly a magical and rare set.

This set includes: 2 tall Skyball style glasses and 3 Collins glasses

A bit about this pattern/maker: The Libbey Glass Company has been manufacturing glassware since the 20th Century and is still producing high quality glassware today. Certain vintage Libbey glassware pieces (but not all of them, depending on the size and type of piece) is signed with a cursive “L” within a circle or ring. The mark actually appears backwards if viewed from outside of the glass, but it appears correctly when looking down through the inside.

Maker/pattern/era: Libbey, MOD Reindeer, early 1960s

Condition: Good vintage condition overall with some minimal wear, age, and missing jewels. We're pretty Type A about describing the exact condition of our vintage sets, so here's a glass by glass summary:

Glass 1: There is no jewel on the neck (but the jewel is present on the ankle)
Glass 2: There is no jewel on the ankle (but the jewel is present on the neck)
Glass 3: There is no jewel on the ankle (but the jewel is present on the neck) and there's a small bit of extra black enamel on the neck (not uncommon with Mid Century glassware)
Glass 4: There is no jewel on the ankle (but the jewel is present on the neck)
Glass 5: There is no jewel on the ankle (but the jewel is present on the neck) and there are some "smudges" in the black enamel (not uncommon with Mid Century glassware)

In short, these glasses are in good vintage condition overall with mild signs of age, mild general wear, some missing jewels, and a few manufacturing occurrences. Zero chips or nicks. Truly a stunning and magical set.

Hallmarks: Two of the glasses (the tall Skyball style glasses) have a backward cursive "L" (it appears backward if you turn the glass upside down, but when staring into the glass, the "L" is facing the right direction). The other three glasses not not have a hallmark. Please note: sometimes during manufacturing the "L" didn't get embossed very deeply and many of these glasses have a very faint "L" that's tough to make out.

Measurements: The Skyball style glasses measure 7" tall by 2 1/4" in diameter; the Collins glasses measure 6 1/4" tall x 2 3/4" in diameter

We have another set of 4 of this pattern, if you're interested in a larger set. See other listings!
