A magical set of 7 Cera "Dow Jones" stock market rocks glasses. Such a neat pattern with heavy enamel and gold embossing of the stock market industrial average (from 1958-1968) in 22k gold, black, and white. Similar to Culver and other MCM glassware manufacturers, Cera used used a heavily textured embossing method with real 22k gold in the pattern. Truly a stunning set.
Maker/pattern: Cera, Dow Jones
Hallmarks: All glasses are signed
A bit about this glassware manufacturer: Cera Glass was made in Hackensack, NJ, USA, in the 1950s & 60s. They created elegant cocktail glasses, barware and other specialty pieces, which were sold in high end department stores of the era. Anthony Velonis, who was already a famous WPA silkscreener and artist, started the Cera Glass Company which pioneered methods of silkscreen printing on glass. Similar to other Mid Century glassware makers, his designs were trimmed in 22K gold.
Measurements: Just shy of 4 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition overall with some minor gold loss on some of the bands. We like to be very thorough when it comes to describing the exact condition of our vintage sets, so here's a glass by glass summary:
Glass 1 - No gold loss
Glass 2 - Very minor gold loss in two very small spots
Glass 3 - Minor gold loss in a number of spots (see photo #9 as an example)
Glass 5 -Minor gold loss in a number of spots
Glass 5 - Very minor gold loss in two small spots
Glass 6 - No gold loss
Glass 7 - Gold loss in a number of spots on the rim -- this 7th glass has the most gold loss -- see photo #7, we zoomed in on the gold band
The glass clarity is good (no cloudiness) and the enamel pattern is in good shape. No chips or nicks of any kind. Overall, this set is in good vintage condition but does have minor gold loss on some of the gold rims. Cheers.
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we're not making a penny on shipping. These glasses will be double-boxed, to ensure safe arrival, which means a larger, heavier box. Cheers!
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
