A lovely and rare set of 45Mid Century "Oil Derrick" glasses. These rocks glasses features a deep black "Oil Derrick" pattern with gold rims on the top and a thicker gold band on the bases. Heavier in weight, these glasses have a solid feel to them. The pictures don't do them justice.
Maker: Lotus -- many (including us in the past) attribute this pattern to Culver. It was actually made by a company called Lotus in the 1960s. Culver did, however, make an opaque black pattern that included gold Oil Rigs. But this pattern in the listing was made by Lotus. Similar to Culver in that they used real 22k gold in their pattern.
Hallmarks: None. Lotus included a gold foil sticker on one glass that was typically removed upon purchase.
Measurements: These low ball glasses measure 3 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of wear/age. The glass clarity is perfectly clear. The black enamel shows very mild what we refer to as general age but is crisp overall. The gold is extremely vibrant but there is gold loss in a few places that were tough to capture in photos, so we're noting it here. Please note: the black part of the pattern is a "matte" (meaning not shiny), this is intentional. There's also a tiny what looks like a "wrinkle" to the bottom of one of the glasses that occurred during manufacturing. Completely common with Mid Century glassware. In short, these glasses are in good vintage condition with mild signs of general age and minor gold loss in a few places. Truly a lovely set. Cheers!
*General note on vintage glassware: Mid Century glassware often has imperfections (i.e. tiny bubbles in the glass, or a "seam" from when the glass was being created, an extra spot of gold or enamel that made it on a clear part of the glass, etc -- purely the nature of vintage glassware).
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we are not making a penny on shipping. We pack our items securely to ensure safe arrival (especially our glassware, which means a larger, heavier box)! If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible (glassware sets typically ship in their own box to ensure safe arrival) and will reimburse you for any shipping overages.
****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage or damage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
