A lovely vintage cocktail picks "tree" by Napier. This rare set features a gold-plated "tree" with 12 cocktail picks that "hang" from the various tree limbs. The tree features a "twisted" tree trunk and twisted tree limbs and the cocktail picks have dark green ball finials and gold stems with pointed tips. Truly a magical set.
Maker: Napier
The Napier Company was named after its president, James H. Napier, who led the company from 1920 to 1960. But the company's history can be tracked back to 1875 when it was founded as Whitney and Rice in Attleboro, Mass., manufacturing silver products. The firm changed hands and name in 1882 and became Carpenter and Bliss and shortly thereafter, E.A. Bliss and Co., Inc. After rapid expansion in the late 1880s the company moved to Meriden, CT in 1890. After WWI, the firm shifted emphasis from silver products to production of modern jewelry. James Napier became president in 1920 and the company adopted the name Napier - Bliss Co. In 1922, the name was changed to Napier Company. Like many jewelry companies Napier got into lines of art objects and other utilitarian objects like serving utensils and barware and is considered one of the pinnacles for vintage silver and silver-plated pieces.
Hallmarks: "Napier" can be found on the bottom of the tree/stand.
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age/wear. Overall, this set is in good condition but does show signs of age inline with a set that's 80+ years old. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage items, so here's a full summary:
1) Please NOTE: there are 18 "tree trunk holes" and only 12 picks. We assume at some point this set had 18 picks total but there are only 12 picks at present.
2) There's mild "age" to the gold-plating on the picks
3) One picks has slight bend in it (see photo #10)
4) There's mild "age" to the top of the tree's base/gold-plating (see photo #5)
The green finials are in great shape. Overall, this set is in good vintage condiiton but does show mild signs of age. And again, there are 18 tree trunk "holes" but a total of 12 picks at present. Truly a lovely Art Deco set that displays beautifully. Cheers!
Measurements: The picks measure 3 3/4" in length; the tree measures just shy of 6" tall (including the picks that are in it)
**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible (glassware sets typically ship in their own box to ensure safe arrival) and will reimburse you for any shipping overages.

We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage/damage.
