A lovely figural "Bucket Full" jigger by Napier. This silver-plated jigger mimics a "bucket", right down to the handle and has "Bucket Full" etched on the front and the ounce capacity lines on the back (1 oz, 2 oz, 3 oz, 4 oz). This figural jigger has an Art Deco design that features two thick textured lines, one at the top, one at the bottom. This jigger also features a tiny "pour spout". Heavier in weight, this jigger has a solid, well-crafted feel to it. Truly a neat figural bar measure.
A quick bit of history on Napier: The Napier Company was named after its president, James H. Napier, who led the company from 1920 to 1960. But the company's history can be tracked back to 1875 when it was founded as Whitney and Rice in Attleboro, Mass., manufacturing silver products. The firm changed hands and name in 1882 and became Carpenter and Bliss and shortly thereafter, E.A. Bliss and Co., Inc. After rapid expansion in the late 1880s the company moved to Meriden, CT in 1890. After WWI, the firm shifted emphasis from silver products to production of modern jewelry. James Napier became president in 1920 and the company adopted the name Napier - Bliss Co. In 1922, the name was changed to Napier Company. Like many jewelry companies Napier got into lines of art objects and other utilitarian objects like cocktail shakers and jiggers.
Measurements: The jigger (not including the handle) measures just over 2 1/2" tall
Hallmarks: "Napier" can be found on the bottom of the jigger
Condition: Great vintage condition. This jigger is near pristine. It appears to have never been used. There's general "age" that comes purely from time including some mild tarnish and very mild "handling" but overall this jigger is in great shape. The silver-plating is vibrant. The interior is in very good shape (there's one tiny tarnish spot to the very bottom interior the size of a pinhead and what we call mild "age" to the bottom of the interior that isn't quite as vibrant as the exterior silver tone). No dents of any kind. Truly a stunning measure that has a magical feel to it. Cheers.
