A stunning Napier gold-plated Art Deco style jigger. This double jigger features Art Deco "spokes" between the jigger ends. One end holds 1 ounce (and has a "1" etched on it (in a lovely block style font) and the other end holds 4 ounces and has a "4" etched on it. Truly a lovely bar measure.

A quick bit of history on Napier: The Napier Company was named after its president, James H. Napier, who led the company from 1920 to 1960. But the company's history can be tracked back to 1875 when it was founded as Whitney and Rice in Attleboro, Mass., manufacturing silver products. The firm changed hands and name in 1882 and became Carpenter and Bliss and shortly thereafter, E.A. Bliss and Co., Inc. After rapid expansion in the late 1880s the company moved to Meriden, CT in 1890. After WWI, the firm shifted emphasis from silver products to production of modern jewelry. James Napier became president in 1920 and the company adopted the name Napier - Bliss Co. In 1922, the name was changed to Napier Company. Like many jewelry companies Napier got into lines of art objects and other utilitarian objects like cocktail shakers. In the early to mid 1930s they started producing several cocktail shakers (most notably the "Dial a Drink shaker" and the Rooster motif shaker) other pieces of barware including their well-known graduated/stepped jigger, the mechanical/valve jigger, one-finger and two-fingers jiggers, and a variety of Art Deco style barware including this jigger.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Overall the gold-plating is in great shape. Any discoloration you see is from the reflection of other items in the room (i.e. our wood ceiling beams). The gold-plating is vibrant and in good condition overall. We can only find one flaw on the 1 ounce end where there's a small "age spot" (a darker spot where the gold-plating is gone). We attempted to capture it in photos but it was nearly impossible. No dents or dings of any kind. Please note: right were the Art Deco "spokes" connect to each end of each jigger, the gold-plating didn't get fully applied. Purely a manufacturing occurrence, not from age or use. In short, this jigger is in very good vintage condition with mild signs of age and one small age spot/area of wear on the smaller jigger end. Cheers.

We're selling a number of other Napier pieces including their gold-plated pieces as well as other gold-plating bar. Please see other listings.

Hallmarks: "Napier" is embossed in very tiny letters on one of the spokes.

Measurements: Approx. 7 1/4" tall
