A lovely pair of vintage silver-plated Fox stirrup cups by Leonard. Circa 1970s. These stirrup cups are very heavy in weight and have a solid feel to them. You flip them upside down and they balance perfectly on the fox's head. Truly a lovely set.

This set comes with 2 Stirrup Cups.

A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.

Hallmarks/era: Leonard can be found on the back of each stirrup cup head; 1970s

Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age. Please note: the head of these stirrups were made in molds and you can see a tiny "seam" on the front of the stirrup cup's head. The silver-plating is in excellent shape but does show minor what we refer to as "surface wear" (ie from past handling, etc). There's some tarnish to the exteriors (one has slightly more tarnish than the other one). We have not polished this set. One of the rims has a very small, subtle rough spot (very minor). Overall, this set is in very good condition with mild signs of age and tarnish; they display beautifully.

Measurements: 5" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter -- please note these are "cup" size. If you're looking for the smaller "jigger" size (that holds 2 ounces or less), please see our other listings as we have quite a few vintage stirrup jiggers.

**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces well to ensure safe delivery. If you buy multiple pieces/sets, we will combine shipping if possible (glassware sets typically ship in their own box to ensure safe arrival) and will reimburse you for any shipping overages.
