A rare and magical Art Deco penguin cocktail shaker/server, 1930s, Japan. Such a magical figural piece. This brass shaker features a hinged beak as well as a hinged head/top and a streamlined body accented by raised wings and plume and feet. The hinged head featuring black bakelite eyes. Heavy in weight, this shaker/server is solid. This piece is 1930s, Japan. A similar penguin shaker from the 1930s was also made in Italy.
Hallmarks: A series of Japanese hallmarks can be found on the bottom (see photo).
Condition: Good/Fair vintage condition with obvious signs of age and wear. We include "Fair" purely due to the age of this piece. The brass/metal shows noticeable age that comes purely from time. Please note: there are two seams (one in the front and one in the back), this is how this piece was originally forged/manufactured. There's some patina to the brass.
**Please Note: we typically do not test our shakers for leakage. This is a "pourer" rather than a shaker that you shake with ice.
Measurements: 7 1/2" tall
