A stunning set of 5 Culver tumblers. These glasses are simply breath-taking and feature a heavily-embossed pattern of gold and vibrant white. We tried to capture the stunning factor by zooming in, see photo #6. The pattern has a bit of an Art Deco feel to it with art Deco-esque gold lines connecting the top and bottom pattern. The white is a stark white that's heavily enameled. Heavier in weight, these glasses have a solid feel to them. Why not serve your drinks in these vintage beauties?!?
Maker/pattern: Culver Ltd. / CUL54* (Culver also made this exact pattern in black, which was called CUL54. We believe the white version's pattern is the same name. A quick summary about this glassware maker: Culver was famous for their stunning decorative glassware in 22-karat gold – think lavish and opulent cocktailware of the 1950s and 60s. In the late 1950’s, Culver started the application of the 22-karat gold to their glassware. Fun fact: the super-heated, roll-on process of gold remains a secret today. Culver comes in a variety of patterns including gilded mushrooms, owls, cats, wildlife, Egyptian or Asian inspired design themes, scrolling leaf patterns, holiday designs, sports motifs and many others.
Hallmarks: All glasses are signed "Culver Ltd" (Culver Limited) in gold
Measurements: 5 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" diameter
Condition: Very, very good vintage condition. The glass clarity is perfect (no cloudiness) and the gold and white enamel is extremely vibrant. No chips of any kind. Please note: these glasses are Mid Century and were made in molds, which means some of the enamel didn't get completely filled in in a few places (purely a manufacturing thing and not a wear/use thing). Completely common with Mid Century glassware such as this. Truly a gorgeous set.
