A rare and lovely set of 6 Libbey "Kings and Queens" Playing Card tumblers. Libbey created this pattern in the early 1960s and it's nothing short of magical. These glasses/tumblers feature rich, bold colors of a red, black and gold playing card pattern on top of frosted glass. The pattern/playing card is "dual-sided" (featured on the front as well as the back). Truly a magical set.

A bit about this pattern/maker: The Libbey Glass Company has been manufacturing glassware since the 20th Century and is still producing high quality glassware today. Certain vintage Libbey glassware pieces (but not all of them, depending on the size and type of piece) is signed with a cursive “L” within a circle or ring. The mark actually appears backwards if viewed from outside of the glass, but it appears correctly when looking down through the inside.

Maker/pattern/era: Libbey, Kings and Queens Playing Cards, early 1960s

Condition: Great vintage condition with very mild signs of wear. The enamel is in very good condition overall (there are a few and we mean only a few places of wear to a few places in the enamel, i.e. on one tiny piece of a "club", etc). There are zero chips, nicks, or cracks on any of the glasses. Please note: Mid Century glassware commonly has manufacturing flaws [i.e. an extra bit of glass on the rim, see photo #9 as an example] that occurred during the creation of the glass(es) -- (i.e. several tiny bubbles in the glass, a few specks of extra paint the size of a dot on the frosted glass, etc). A few of these glasses have a micro dot dot of "white" (from the white in the enameled white face) here and there. Again, completely common with Mid Century glassware. This set includes:

Queen of Clubs
King of Hearts
King of Diamonds
Queen of Clubs
Queen of Hearts
King of Clubs

In short, these glasses are in very good vintage condition.

Hallmarks: There's a backward "L" on the bottom of each glass (when you're looking down inside the glass the "L" is facing the correct way).

Measurements: 6 1/2" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter
