A rare Napier "Cowboy" jigger. No words can express how magical this piece is. This jigger features a silver-plated jigger base (that has 1 oz and 2 oz marks etched into the side) and "Cowboy" for the handle. The Cowboy's detailing is simply incredible and extremely intricate. He features a big gallon hat, a checkered shirt (that has texture to it), a "scarf" tied around his neck, and boots. The cowboy handle is "curved" like a handle is is connected to two "ball" pieces that connect to the jigger. See last photos, for reference. Heavier in weight, this jigger has a solid, well-crafted feel to it. Truly a neat figural bar measure.

But the company's history can be tracked back to 1875 when it was founded as Whitney and Rice in Attleboro, Mass., manufacturing silver products. The firm changed hands and name in 1882 and became Carpenter and Bliss and shortly thereafter, E.A. Bliss and Co., Inc. After rapid expansion in the late 1880s the company moved to Meriden, CT in 1890. After WWI, the firm shifted emphasis from silver products to production of modern jewelry. James Napier became president in 1920 and the company adopted the name Napier - Bliss Co. In 1922, the name was changed to Napier Company. Like many jewelry companies Napier got into lines of art objects and other utilitarian objects like cocktail shakers and jiggers.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with mild signs of age. This jigger doesn't appear to have seen much actual use. It shows minor "age" (that comes purely from time, not use) including a few very small tarnish spots to the bottom interior of the jigger and one small tarnish spot to the bottom exterior of the jigger. There's some very minor general "surface wear" to the silver-plating (very, very minor). Overall, this jigger is in very, very good vintage condition. The silver-plating is vibrant. No dents or dings. Truly a stunning measure that has a magical feel to it. Cheers.
