A gorgeous vintage sterling silver Arts & Crafts cocktail spoon Porter Blanchard, 1940s. No words can express how stunning this piece is. It features a jigger, long twisted stem, spoon for stirring and mixing drinks, and a textured muddler finial for muddling mint, etc. The texture is a light hammered texture (this piece was hand-forged). Heavier in weight, this piece is solid and well-crafted. Truly a stunning Arts & Crafts bar tool/spoon that has a magical feel to it.
A bit about this vintage manufacturer: Porter George Blanchard (February 28, 1886 – November 1, 1973) was an American silversmith living and working in Pacoima, California. He is considered to have been part of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Blanchard learned the trade of the silversmith from his father, George Porter Blanchard in Gardner, Massachusetts. In 1923, Blanchard moved to Burbank, California, where he established a studio for silversmithing. Between the 1930s and 1950, he operated a shop in Hollywood. He then worked from his home in Pacoima from the 1940s until his death in 1973.
Hallmarks: "Porter Blanchard Sterling" is stamped on the muddler finial and "Robert Anstead Los Angeles" can be found on the back of the spoon bed (which was the retailer the spoon was purchased).
Measurements: 11 1/4" in length (this spoon weighs 86 grams)
Condition: Good vintage condition overall with mild signs of age. There's some mild patina and tarnish to the interior of the jigger as well as the exterior of the spoon (we have not polished this piece). There's minor "age" that comes purely from time. In short, this silver bar spoon is in good condition with mild signs of age. It displays beautifully. Cheers!
