A lovely set of 6 vintage figural Asian/Japanese silver retractable swizzle sticks/stirrers in their original box. Such a magical set. These silver swizzle sticks also serve as a "swizzle stick" by pulling on the ball tips to reveal a swizzle. They have a magical feel to them. When not in use, gently push the ball back into the stem and the swizzler will return to a stirrer. The hard-sided box features sliding brass clasps (that allow you to "slide" the box open and closed) with a lovely embossed gray exterior. Truly a stunning set. Cheers.
This set includes: 6 swizzle sticks/stirrers (all swizzle sticks work properly) and their original box.
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age and the box shows age and wear. Here's a full summary:
1) The exterior of the box shows age/wear/some staining (especially the back of the box, see photo)
2) The sliding clasps work perfectly
3) All swizzle sticks work properly but please note: they take some time to pull in and out so you don't bend the main middle string/ball (purely the nature of this type of swizzle sticks that's 85 years old) -- we've left the balls pulled out slightly so the buyer can easily grab and open each one
4) There's mild tarnish to all the finials (we have not polished this set) that the buyer can polish away if they choose to.
Overall, this set is in good condition with mild tarnish, age to the box, and some swizzle sticks being a bit tighter to pull out/open. They display beautifully.
Hallmarks: Each swizzle stick/stirrer has "Sterling Japan" on the side in tiny letters.
Measurements: When retracted each stick measures around 4 1/4" in length (some slightly longer or shorter depending on the finial on the top)
