A lovely vintage sterling silver enameled "Stoplight" jigger by Alvin. The original enameled stoplight colors included green, yellow and red meant to signify "go," "caution," and "stop" (depending on the number of ounces you desire). Truly a magical figural jigger.
A bit about this vintage manufacturer: Founded by Wm. H. Jamoneau in 1886 as Alvin Mfg Co. in Irvington, New Jersey. The firm changed to Alvin-Beiderhase Co (c. 1893).
In 1919 the name changed to Alvin Silver Co until 1928 when assets, dies and patterns were purchased by Gorham Corporation operating in Providence plant as a separated division of Gorham under the name of Alvin Corporation.
Measurements: Approx 2 1/2" tall x a tad over 2 1/4" in diameter
Maker/Era: Alvin / Mid Century
Hallmarks: "Alvin Sterling S275" can be found on the bottom of the jigger
Condition: Good vintage condition but with mild signs of age including missing enamel on the "yellow" (caution) dot. Here's a full summary:
1) The yellow enamel is mostly gone (see zoomed in photos); the green and red enamel is completely in tact and vibrant
2) There's mild tarnish in a few places to the interior (the very bottom) as well as the exterior
3) The bottom of the jigger shows age and a few indentions as well as a tiny ding/dent on the very bottom edge of the jigger
See all photos for reference. In short, this vintage jigger is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age. Cheers!
