A lovely Sterling Silver "Only A Thimble Full" etched jigger by Simons Brothers. This figural jigger has a nice weighted feel to it. The dimpled texture is stunning and mimics a real life thimble. This jigger also features a "beading" detailing just below the rim and has a gold-wash interior. The font is also stunning and an Art Deco style. Truly a magical figural jigger.
Hallmarks: "Sterling" can be found in tiny letters on the thimble along with an "S" on the bottom interior.
Etching: Only A Thimble Full
A bit about this vintage manufacturer: Founded in 1839 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by George Washington Simons alongside his brother, Peter B. Simons. They expanded rapidly pioneering the use of steam power in their manufacturing—growing to employ around 60 workers by 1858 to produce an array of tableware, jewelry, and gold/silver accessories, as well as Civil War presentation swords. The company became a powerhouse in thimble manufacturing and design. In 1889, John F. Simons was granted the first-ever design patent in the U.S. for a thimble (Patent #59, the fluted octagon design, which remained in production for decades). They accumulated hundreds of design patents for various silver and gold items (such as the Liberty Bell, Priscilla, Cupid, and Grape patterns).
Measurements: Approx. 2" tall
Condition: Very good vintage condition with very mild signs of age. There's general "age" that comes purely from time, as well as some mild tarnish (we have not polished this piece). There's a very subtle indentation on the bottom exterior edge that you can't see with the eye but can be felt when you run your finger over it. In short, this jigger is in good vintage condition with mild signs of general age and mild tarnish. Truly a magical figural jigger.
