A neat set of 5 vintage Airlines glasses, in the original box. These glasses feature various Airlines in bold enamel that include: 3 Capital Airlines, 1 United Airlines, 1 Northeast Airlines. These rocks glasses are heavier in weight and have a solid feel to them.
Four of them are in an original box. We're not sure if the fifth glass was part of that original set. This set of 5 glasses also comes with 3 Capital Airlines paper napkins and 10 Capital Airlines stickers (that we presume go on luggage). Truly a neat vintage set.
Here's a quick summary on each airline:
Northeast Airlines, a former US airline, was initially established as Boston-Maine Airways in 1931, a subsidiary of the Boston and Maine Railroad. It later became Northeast Airlines in 1940. The airline played a significant role in the development of air travel in New England and beyond, eventually merging with Delta Air Lines in 1972.
Capital Airlines began as Pennsylvania Airlines in 1927, became Pennsylvania Central Airlines in 1936 after merging with Central Airlines, and finally adopted the name Capital Airlines in 1948. They merged with United Airlines in 1961.
United Airlines was formed in 1931. The company evolved from an airmail carrier to a major domestic and international passenger airline, pioneering transcontinental flights, still operating today as one of the largest airlines in the world.
Measurements: 4 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" in diameter
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The glass clarity is perfectly clear. If these glasses were ever used, it wasn't much as they come with an original box. The enamel on each glass is in good shape. In short, these glasses are in very good vintage condition and display beautifully.
