A neat set of 4 vintage Airlines glasses for Central Airways, Mid Century. These glasses feature a vibrant enameled Airplane and white clouds and on the back of each glass is a map of a 6-state area of where they flew (which included Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Colorado). These glasses are extremely heavy in weight and have a magical feel to them. The glasses were made by Libbey (for Central Airways) and are hallmarked. We took photos in two different lighting settings to try and capture the vibrancy of the red, white, and blue enameled pattern. Truly a magical set. There's also a giant vintage post card.

This set includes 4 glasses and 1 vintage post card.

Please note: we have another set of 3, if you'd like a larger set. See other listings. Cheers.

A quick summary on the history of Central Airlines: Central Airlines was a local service carrier, a scheduled passenger airline operating in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas from 1949 to 1967. It was founded by Keith Kahle in 1944 to operate charter and fixed base services in Oklahoma, but was not granted an air operator's certificate until 1946 and did not begin scheduled flights until September 15, 1949, just before the certificate expired. Central was then headquartered at Meacham Field in Fort Worth, Texas. The airline was eventually acquired by and merged into the original Frontier Airlines which continued and expanded its network.

Hallmarks: "L" (for Libbey) can be found on the bottom of each glass

A quick summary about this glassware maker: The Libbey Glass Company has been manufacturing glassware since the 20th Century and is still producing high quality glassware today. Certain vintage Libbey glassware pieces (but not all of them, depending on the size and type of piece) is signed with a cursive “L” within a circle or ring.  The mark actually appears backwards if viewed from outside of the glass, but it appears correctly when looking down through the inside. This Cities of the World pattern remains one of their most popular.

Measurements: 4" tall x 3 1/2" in diameter

Condition: Great vintage condition. The glass clarity is perfectly clear. If these glasses were ever used, it wasn't much. The enamel on each glass is in good shape. In short, these glasses are in very good vintage condition and display beautifully.

**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery.
