A lovely vintage brass-plated stag/deer stirrup cup. This cup features a brass-plated cup and a solid brass upper. Heavy in weight, this goblet has a nice weighted feel to it. You can turn this cup upside down and it balances perfectly on its antlers. The detailing of the deer is simply gorgeous from the antlers to the fur to the majestic horns. Truly a lovely stirrup.
A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.
Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age. Overall, the brass is vibrant in color but does show mild age. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces, so here'a a full summary:
1) The cup section shows some tarnish and general "age" that brass gets over the course of decades
2) The interior shows age including a few small "age" spots
In short, this stirrup cup is in Good vintage condition with mild age listed above. It displays beautifully. Cheers.
