A lovely vintage brass-plated horse stirrup cup. This cup features a brass-plated cup and a solid brass upper. Heavy in weight, this goblet has a nice weighted feel to it. You can turn this cup upside down and it balances perfectly on its head/ears. The detailing of the horse is simply lovely - from the mane to the ears. Truly a lovely stirrup.

We have several other vintage brass horse stirrup cups listed, if you'd like a pair or more. Please see other listings!

A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.

Measurements: 5 1/2" tall

Condition: Good vintage condition with mild signs of age. We like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces, so here'a a full summary:

1) There's what we call "age spots" that have a slightly darker look on some of the brass (we have not polished this piece)
2) The interior is clean but does show mild tarnish and mild age (some of the brass is peeking through the silver-plating that's worn away)
3) There's age/tarnish and tarnish "spots" on the horse head upper section

In short, this stirrup cup is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age. It displays beautifully. Cheers.

**On shipping: We take our packaging very seriously and carefully wrap all pieces to ensure safe delivery. Please note: we're not making a penny on shipping. This set is heavier in weight and we pack our items well to ensure safe arrival.

****Important to note pre-purchase: Buyers, please examine all photos carefully as we cannot accept returns due to the fragile nature (the possibility of breakage when being shipped back) of our vintage/antique pieces. Our items are true vintage pieces that might have manufacturers flaws, flaws from age, or imperfections in general from being vintage. We try to explain the condition/description in an accurate and thorough manner but we ask that you please examine all photos carefully and ask all questions before purchasing an item as we are unable to accept returns due to the risk of breakage. Cheers!
