A lovely silver-plated 20th century "dial a drink" cocktail shaker, Italian (Mid Century). This lovely shaker is similar to Napier's "Tells U How" shaker in that you turn (rotate) the outer sleeve to reveal the selected cocktail you wish to make. Heavier in weight, this shaker is solid. The cap (which can serve as a shot glass/cup) has a ribbed detailing along the rim. Truly a neat vintage mixer. The cocktail recipes (in red font) are a Side Car, Tom Collins, Whisky Sour, Alexander, Bacardi, Between The Sheets, Bronx, Clover Club Dry Martini, Dubonnet, Gin Rickey, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Orange Blossom and Palm Beach. Truly a magical mixer.
Hallmarks: an image of a bird/stork can be found on the bottom of the shaker along with the number "22" and "1952". The number "22" can also be found in the bottom interior of the cap.
Condition: Good vintage condition overall with signs of age. We like to be thorough, so here's a full summary:
1) The silver-plating shows age in several places where the brass is peaking through, giving a mild "gold" appearance (this piece is silver-plated over brass)
2) There's mild tarnish and wear to the silver-plating along the very top of the lid (see photo x)
3) The interior is clean overall but does show mild age
4) There's general "age" that comes from time (this piece is almost 75 years old)
6) The interior of the shaker shows age as well as tarnish (see photos #9 and #10)
7) The outer sleeve turns easily and smoothly but isn't 100% round (it's very, very subtle but we like to be thorough when it comes to our vintage pieces)
In short, this neat shaker is in good condition overall but does show age, tarnish, and mild wear in a few places. Truly a breath-taking piece.
**Please also note: we typically do not test our shakers for leakage. We offer a variety of vintage shakers (both usable as well as collectible/display only). We are happy to put our shaker through a thorough leakage test (which involves filling it with liquid and rigorously shaking it) -- please message us if you'd like us to test this particular shaker. Cheers!
